2008 Good numbers of warblers now being caught on passage, in particular Chiffchaff.  Reed & Sedge Warblers and Blackcap have all improved on last year indicating a much improved breeding season.   At last! we have received details of the Spanish Ringed Siskin controlled in Dec 05 and again in Feb 06. (see controls table below)   2007 Swallow numbers using the roost increased, perhaps due to fewer adjacent fields of suitable sweetcorn which has seemed to be their preferred roost in recent years.   A disastrous year for most of the summer warblers due to heavy rains in the nesting period.   Good numbers of Reed Bunting using the phragmites reedbed as a roost.   Several interesting local 'old' retraps were made this year, a Blackbird from 2000, and a Blue Tit and Great Tit, both from 2001. All birds still fit and healthy.
